Using flooring on the walls

It might be a little late to say it, but people, the flooring...is on the wall! You may or may not know that the latest trend in home design has literally been strategically placing flooring on wall surfaces. Rather than using heavier materials, like traditional ceramic or hardwood, companies like Vercade Wall Fashion are creating lighter flooring materials that are perfect to decorate the walls of your home or office. At Barry Carpet, we are proud to offer you this versatile medium that can be used to add dimension and liveliness to any room.

Our favorite new brand at Barry Carpet that offers flooring for walls is Vercade Wall Fashion, which carries beautiful and durable products in natural stone and hardwood styles. The diversity in their design selection is truly incredible, with the ability for you to make custom patterns to create one of a kind looks.

Flooring for the wall can also be used to enhance the elegance of your home design. Rather than have all walls matching, perhaps consider an accent wall using a wall flooring style of your choice. These decorative facades have enhanced authenticity, using a high resolution printed decorative film.

Vercade Wall Fashion modular pieces are lightweight and made for easy installation. Their seamless corners eliminate the need for additional trim pieces. They are waterproof, stable, and are managed with carefree maintenance. Vercade Wall Fashion flooring for the wall have Ultrafresh surface treatment and a clear vinyl wear layer for added durability. They use exclusive isocore technology for dimensional stability and strength, which means that once installed, they should be able to maintain their look and presence in your room for quite a while.

Mohawk and Karastan Support Breast Cancer

Mohawk and Karastan Carpet

Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is important to us at Barry Carpet to highlight the philanthropic partnership Mohawk and Karastan have established with the Susan G. Komen foundation. We happily carry the carpet and hard surface products that these brands manufacture. We are especially proud to partner with Susan G. Komen by providing Mohawk’s SmartCushion pad here at Barry Carpet. Since 2001, Mohawk has donated more than $5.6 million dollars to the Susan G. Komen foundation, which is the largest nonprofit funder of breast cancer research outside the federal government, (raising $1.9 billion since its inception in 1982).

Mohawk SmartCushion

A portion of every Mohawk SmartCushion Pad sold is donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation. Their exclusively engineered SmartCushion enhances the feel and performance of your carpet with its visco-elastic memory foam material. SmartCushion also improves insulation for an energy-efficient room. By absorbing and deflecting foot traffic noise, SmartCushion provides a quieter room. Not only is the purchase of this comfy cushion helping to save lives, it also has an incredible warranty. When the original purchaser buys any new Mohawk carpet with the pad, Mohawk will enhance the warranties for the new carpet by adding 20 YEARS to the current warranty! Mohawk also transfers the warranty to the new owner if the house is sold. Additionally, areas that are not normally covered by other flooring brands, like stairs and hallways that endure much wear and tear, will also be covered under this warranty.

Besides contributing through padding purchases, Mohawk Commercial contributes to Susan G. Komen by donating $0.25 per square yard of commercial carpet sold. You can view Mohawk Commercial at our Barry Carpet West LA showroom.

Karastan also donates to Susan G. Komen as well. Through the Decorate for the Cure program, Karastan has donated over $3 million to support the vision of a cancer-free world.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Some shocking numbers are that 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Everyday in the U.S., approximately 113 women AND men die of breast cancer. The newest, BOLDEST goal from the Komen foundation is to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50 percent by 2026. Komen is pursuing this by spending its dollars on hiring research scientists to find the best cures, disseminating information and producing events to educate the public to strive for health equity, and access to timely, high-quality cancer care. We at Barry Carpet are honored to support Mohawk, Karastan, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation in this important movement to fight breast cancer. We hope you will consider these ethical brands the next time you need new padding or commercial carpet.

Designer Area Rugs

New to our Barry Carpet showroom are a selection of beautiful and classic area rugs from some of the flooring industry’s top designers. Read on to learn the best ways to charm your home or office with a gorgeous area rug.

According to Floor Covering Weekly, area rugs are best used as an accent that adds a personalized flair to your space. From a design perspective, some home decor professionals select the area rug for the room even before wall colors, furniture and home decor items. An area rug can make or break a room. The right area rug can anchor and define separate spaces in a studio layout and add liveliness to a space.

In 2018, the rug trends are colorful, global-inspired prints and recycled materials. At Barry Carpet, we have a plethora of incredible eco-friendly carpets that can be customized to fit into any room you desire.

While an area rug is a common addition to add on top of hard surface floor such as hardwood or LVT, it can even be laid over broadloom carpet. In addition to the stylish ambiance they create, area rugs offer warmth, comfort and noise reduction.

Interior Designer’s Tips to Pick the Perfect Area Rug

We asked some of LA’s top interior designers what their secrets are to pick the perfect area rug and this is what they said:

Erin Morris from of Homegirl Collection shared her wise words: “Area rugs are like art and can make or break a room. A few things I often tell people when choosing a rug is don’t go too small - I’d rather see no area rug in a room than one that is too small for the space. Also, choose something that is going to hold up in your home environment... choose something you love and go a little crazy if your space allows it. An area rug can always be switched up, so have fun.”

Christine Thompson & Andrea Putnam from JAC Interiors revealed: “We love to customize a rug for a bespoke look, to make sure we get the perfect size. We will often pick a wall to wall carpet and then cut it to the exact size we want, so it’s perfect every time!”

At Barry Carpet of West Los Angeles, we carry standard size rugs and can create custom size rugs. With a wide selection of designs and brands to choose from, you are sure to find a rug at Barry Carpet that will enhance and add charm to any decor and ambiance.

Designer Area Rug Brands we carry:

  • Fabrica
  • Masland
  • Radici
  • Stark
  • Stanton
  • Prestige
