Mohawk and Karastan Support Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is important to us at Barry Carpet to highlight the philanthropic partnership Mohawk and Karastan have established with the Susan G. Komen foundation. We happily carry the carpet and hard surface products that these brands manufacture. We are especially proud to partner with Susan G. Komen by providing Mohawk’s SmartCushion pad here at Barry Carpet. Since 2001, Mohawk has donated more than $5.6 million dollars to the Susan G. Komen foundation, which is the largest nonprofit funder of breast cancer research outside the federal government, (raising $1.9 billion since its inception in 1982).
A portion of every Mohawk SmartCushion Pad sold is donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation. Mohawk also transfers the warranty to the new owner if the house is sold. Additionally, areas that are not normally covered by other flooring brands, like stairs and hallways that endure much wear and tear, will also be covered under this warranty.

Karastan also donates to Susan G. Komen as well. Through the Decorate for the Cure program, Karastan has donated over $3 million to support the vision of a cancer-free world.
Some shocking numbers are that 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Everyday in the U.S., approximately 113 women AND men die of breast cancer. The newest, BOLDEST goal from the Komen foundation is to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50 percent by 2026. Komen is pursuing this by spending its dollars on hiring research scientists to find the best cures, disseminating information and producing events to educate the public to strive for health equity, and access to timely, high-quality cancer care. We at Barry Carpet are honored to support Mohawk, Karastan, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation in this important movement to fight breast cancer.
